Swirl marks, water spots, light scratches, and oxidation. These are defects in the clear coat layer. Correction removes a controlled amount of clear coat to level out those imperfections and restore optical clarity.
If a scratch catches your fingernail, it's likely through the clear coat into the paint — correction can't remove it. We inspect under paint light at consultation and tell you exactly what's achievable before any work starts.
A 1-step takes a full day. A 2-step runs 1–2 days. A 3-step (heavy correction) can take 2–3 days. We give you a timeline at consultation based on the vehicle's size and condition.
For any coating above our 1-year sealant, yes. We require a correction step to ensure the surface we're bonding to is as clean and level as possible. Ceramic over uncorrected paint locks in every imperfection.
The clarity from correction is permanent as long as the clear coat is protected. That's why we recommend ceramic coating immediately after correction — it locks in the finish and prevents new defects from forming.
